If it's your birthday today, many happy returns - divided by 4! If not, then treat this day as a free gift - you know, buy 28 and you get one free!
Well, this is it - leap year's extra day. This reminds you of the passing of time. How do you know when your getting old? You know your growing old when:
'You feel like the night before when you didn't even go out ....'
'You get short of breath playing chess'
'Your children look middle-aged'
'You know all the answers to the questions nobody asks you'
'Your knees buckle and your belt won't
'Your day is doing well 'until the alarm clock rings'
'You walk with head held high, to see through your bifocals'
Perhaps, worst of all 'You reach the top of the ladder - to find it's leaning against the wrong wall'.
Well, have a look at these verses from the Bible:
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers"
Genesis 17: 1-2
Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, nor his strength gone. Deuteronomy 34: 7
Lord let me never allow myself to retire from serving you.
A Prayer: Almighty God, before whom the generations rise and fall, and in whose sight a thousand years are as but a day, grant me the grace to grasp how fleeting is my life, and how sure are your promises, through Jesus Christ my Lord.
Now read Isaiah Chapter 40
