On some of the pages on this website, you'll find audio recordings of Frank Cooke giving relaxed talks on various Bible topics. These audio recordings are saved as MP3 files.
We chose the MP3 file format, because you are more likely to be able to play this format than any other single file format. Of course, you'll need a computer which has a sound card and speakers - Apple computers have always had these built-in and certainly any Windows PC bought in the last year or so will be able to play audio.
[If you're unsure, contact your local computer geek who will be pleased to display his/her prowess and inform you!]
MP3 files have become very common in the past few years and they can be played by all of the popular software media players, including the 'big three' we discuss here:
- Apple Quicktime
- Windows Media Player
- RealPlayer
Other software including iTunes, WinAmp and many others can also play MP3 files. If you need to install or upgrade the audio software on your computer, use one of the links on the right panel of this page.
Quicktime, Windows Media Player and RealPlayer are equally good media players for playing the MP3 files on this website. The term 'media player' simply refers to the software which will play the audio files - and they can play lots of other audio and video file formats too, hence they are called media players rather than just audio players.
If you really can't decide which media player to use, then ask your friends which one they recommend - everyone you ask will have a player they love and a player they detest!
We have decide to recommend RealPlayer, but Windows Media Player is equally capable. Apple iTunes is excellent even though we didn't test it thoroughly during the development of this site.
